How to Set Up Your bigboi D-IONIZR
These instructions apply to both the two-stage and three-stage bigboi D-IONIZR systems.

Two-stage model: One carbon filter and one DI resin filter
-
Three-stage model: One carbon filter and two DI resin filters
The installation process is the same for both models. The three-stage system simply requires the installation of one additional DI cartridge.
What’s Included
Depending on your model, your D-IONIZR includes:

Two-stage or three-stage top assembly
-
Built-in bypass valves
-
Digital TDS meter
-
One composite carbon filter cartridge
-
One or two DI resin cartridges
-
Cartridge guide pins
-
Housing O-rings
-
Housing wrench
-
Two 3/4" female hose connectors
1. Install the Carbon Filter
The carbon cartridge must always be installed in the first housing on the water-inlet side of the system.
-
Unscrew and remove the first filter housing.
-
Remove all plastic packaging from the carbon cartridge.
-
Place the cartridge into the housing in the orientation shown in the installation diagram, ensuring the flat seal is seated correctly.
-
Check that the large housing O-ring is sitting evenly inside its groove.
-
Lightly lubricate the O-ring with a suitable O-ring lubricant to prevent it from twisting or pinching.
-
Align the centre opening of the cartridge with the guide pin underneath the top assembly.
-
Screw the housing clockwise onto the top assembly until hand-tight.
-
Inspect the top of the housing and make sure the O-ring has not moved or become pinched.
-
Use the supplied housing wrench to tighten the housing securely. Do not overtighten.
If the O-ring becomes pinched, remove the housing, reposition and lubricate the O-ring, then reinstall the housing.
2. Install the DI Resin Filter or Filters
Repeat the same installation process for the DI resin cartridges.
Two-stage model
Install one DI resin cartridge into the second housing.
Three-stage model
Install one DI resin cartridge into the second housing and another DI resin cartridge into the third housing.
For each housing:
-
Remove all packaging from the DI cartridge.
-
Place the cartridge into the housing.
-
Confirm that the housing O-ring is correctly seated and lightly lubricated.
-
Align the cartridge with the guide pin.
-
Screw the housing clockwise onto the top assembly until hand-tight.
-
Check that the O-ring has not moved or become pinched.
-
Use the supplied wrench to tighten the housing securely.
For high-flow pressure washers, the cartridge guide pins may be removed to help increase water flow.
3. Attach the Hose Fittings
Each side of the D-IONIZR assembly has a 3/4" male BSP thread.
-
Screw one 3/4" female connector onto each male BSP thread.
-
Tighten both connectors securely without overtightening or damaging the threads.
-
Connect your tap or incoming water hose to the system’s inlet.
-
Connect the system’s outlet to your garden hose or pressure washer.
Water must enter through the carbon-filter side before passing through the DI resin filter or filters. Always follow the IN and OUT markings provided on the unit.
4. Select the Water Mode
The bypass valves allow you to choose between filtered and unfiltered water.
FILTER
Turn both valve handles so the arrows point to FILTER.
Water will pass through the carbon and DI cartridges, producing deionised water for a spot-free rinse.
BYPASS
Turn both valve handles so the arrows point to BYPASS.
Water will bypass the filter cartridges and flow through the system as normal tap water.
Important
Both valve handles must be set to the same position.
Do not leave the handles between FILTER and BYPASS or pointed towards the DO NOT USE position. This can allow water to travel through both paths and is not recommended.
5. Start the Water Supply

Confirm that every housing and hose fitting is secure.
-
Set both valves to either FILTER or BYPASS.
-
Slowly turn on the water supply.
-
Inspect the housings, O-rings and hose fittings for leaks.
-
If a leak is found, turn off the water and release all remaining pressure before tightening the fitting or reseating the O-ring.
Never remove a filter housing while the system is pressurised.
6. Check the Digital TDS Meter
The built-in TDS meter measures the total dissolved solids in your incoming and outgoing water.
-
Move the switch to IN to check the incoming tap-water TDS.
-
Move the switch to OUT to check the filtered water leaving the system.
An OUT reading of 000 ppm indicates optimal filtration performance.
The incoming TDS level will affect how long your DI cartridges last. Higher incoming readings generally mean the cartridges will need to be replaced sooner.
Recommended Washing Method
To maximise the life of your DI cartridges:
-
Set both valves to BYPASS for the initial rinse, snow foam and contact-wash stages.
-
When ready for the final rinse, turn off the water supply and release the remaining pressure.
-
Turn both valve handles to FILTER.
-
Turn the water supply back on.
-
Complete the final rinse using deionised water.
Filtered water can also be used throughout the entire wash. This may improve snow-foam and shampoo performance but will use the DI resin more quickly.
Replacing the Filters
-
Replace the carbon filter approximately every 6–12 months, depending on usage and incoming water quality.
-
Replace the DI resin cartridge or cartridges when the OUT reading rises above 20 ppm.
Always turn off the water supply and completely release system pressure before opening any filter housing.
