D-IonizR | How to Use the Filter Guides
Correct setup of your bigboi D-IonizR is essential to prevent leaks, avoid blow-by, and ensure accurate Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) readings. This guide walks you through how to properly use the included filter guides during setup for both the 2-Stage and 3-Stage units.
Step-by-Step Installation Instructions
1. Check O-Rings
-
Open each tank and inspect the top edge.
-
Ensure the black rubber O-rings are present and seated securely in their grooves.
-
Damaged or missing O-rings can lead to water bypassing the filters and leaking from the system.
2. Lubricate the O-Rings
-
Apply a light, food-grade silicone lubricant to the O-rings.
-
This creates a tighter seal and prevents pinching or warping when the tanks are tightened.
3. Insert Filters and Filter Guides
-
Place one resin filter cartridge into each tank.
-
On top of each filter, insert the plastic filter guide locator.
-
These guides centre the filter inside the tank, helping to eliminate side-flow (blow-by) that reduces efficiency and increases TDS levels.
4. Secure the Tanks
-
Screw each tank back onto the top manifold (head) firmly by hand.
-
Make sure each tank is tightened evenly to avoid unbalanced pressure or leaks.
5. Check for Leaks
-
Once connected to the water supply, run water through the unit and inspect for leaks.
-
If leaking occurs, re-check the O-rings, filter guide alignment, and tank tightness.
Why the Filter Guides Matter
Using the filter guides properly ensures:
-
Maximum filtration performance
-
Lower TDS output
-
Reduced risk of internal leaks or water bypass
-
Increased lifespan of the resin filters
If you experience issues such as poor water flow, unusually high TDS readings, or visible leaks, refer to our D-IonizR troubleshooting articles or contact our support team for assistance.
