D-IONIZR | Should I hand tighten or Wrench tighten my filters?

When installing your D-IONIZR filter housings, always begin by hand-tightening them. This is usually sufficient to create a watertight seal and helps prevent overtightening, which can crack the housing or damage the O-rings inside.

Once the filter is hand-tightened, run water through the system and check for any leaks. If a minor leak is present, use the supplied wrench to gently turn the housing an additional quarter turn — no more. The wrench is only intended for light adjustments, not for forceful tightening.

Important:
Overtightening with a wrench can deform or damage the housing, strip threads, or crush the sealing O-ring, causing more leaks and potentially voiding warranty coverage.

Summary:

  • Always start by hand-tightening.

  • Check for leaks once water is flowing.

  • Use the wrench only if necessary — and tighten gently.

  • Avoid using tools to remove stuck housings. If needed, gently depressurise and try again.
